Exciting times, trying a new medium ~ Oil

I tried Oil back when I was 16 and doing my 1st year of general art & design at college, I absolutely hated them! mainly because of the smell and the drying time made me so impatient but also because we weren't taught how to use them properly, we were just given an assignment and told to get on with it, college was all about leading us away from fine art and causing us to make abstract art which I didn't want to do, I wanted to draw and paint in detail, college nearly robbed me of my gift, I left and wasn't sure who I was anymore as an artist, I had lost my way, I think that's part of the reason it's took me nearly 40 years to give oils another try and here we are, trying water mixable oils to reduce the smell and the potential for headaches.

I am really enjoy the process and really love learning about them this time around and enjoying the freedom of the paint strokes rather than the tight constrictions of pencil strokes.

I have wanted to paint clouds and skyscapes even the sea, for so long but had never found the right medium to get the effect I was looking for until now, I really love the look the oils create and the soft blurring effect that you naturally see up in the sky within the clouds, I hope you like them too, follow my journey in oil.

I got into oil to paint the sky and clouds but I really want to paint water and the sea, maybe stretching out into full landscapes, I also want to test myself in painting animals and maybe human portraits too, I am really looking forward to exploring this medium more.

I still love my pencils and I am still drawing animal portraits and taking private commissions etc but at the same time enjoyin the freedom of painting in oils.

All Original Artwork all for sale unless stated otherwise.
