Some examples of my work explained here .......

Graphite

Shown here is an example of the use of Pencils when drawing Animals.

To achieve this piece I used several kinds of pencils, using both hard and soft, I find the push up pencils with the really fine lead in them are great for doing hair and the really fine detailed parts of the subject.

I use a smooth paper when using Pencil as it makes it easier to blend and smudge the piece for great effects with shadows and tones.

Chalk Pastels

Shown here in this example is the use of Pastels when drawing Wildlife.

To achieve this piece I used Chalk Pastels and Pastel Pencils for finer detail, I do most of the blending at the beginning when I lay down the foundations for the piece and then build up the detail on top, line by line, when it is finished I use a fixative to hold all the loose chalk particles to the paper.

I use a heavier and slightly textured paper when using Pastels as it adds a bit of definition to the piece.

Paint -
mixed Media of Water colour, Gouache and Acrylic

Shown here in this example I used different types of Paint to create this Pet Portrait of two cute Yorkshire Terriers.

To achieve this effect I set down the base colours in Water Colour paint as it is easier to move around on the paper and can achieve thinner washes than with other paints, then I built up the detail with Acrylic and Gouache.

I used a heavier paper but not specifically for paints as I didn't intend to use the paint thickly.
